Challenge of Ladakh Himalayas
Jeep safaris in mountains ,specially in Ladakh region is one of the most enjoyable
for those who love "driving on the edge". One of the toughest drive
in the world. A ultimate test for man and machine. Its a famous trend to test
ultimate toughness of any new launching of motor vehicle in India ..put it
in Manlai-Leh- Khardungla (Worlds highest motorable pass..18330 Ft.) route.
The terrain is so tough but beautiful that one is spell bounded by the beauty
of the region.Starting from Manali(Himachal Pradesh) one has to cross 14200
ft. high rohtang Pass to enter into Lahual valley which further consists of
15000+ pass of Lacha Lunga la...and as soon as one crosses most toughest "Bara-Lacha
La" ..this is Gateway to Ladakh Valley. Ladakh valley is also popular
due to origin of Indian creed known as INDUS CIVILIZATION. The river INDUS
flows very near by the city of Leh and only green color of vegetation is visible
on its banks.Otherwise all landscape is barren rocky mountains ..Creating
very stunning view .
Ladakh is Buddhist state...a way of life which is still a mystery for the
outer world.Tibetian culture and religious rite and still under scrutiny of
many scientists and no doubt you can see some of top guns doing research in
their various fields. In NIKE HIKING EXPEDITION, when I was in Ladakh,I met
then senior Lama(religious head) of Hemis Gompa... and I was told that few
scientist have come from USA to investigate a meditation technique and its
effects as monks were able to vary in-vitro (outside the body) and in-vivo
(inside the body) temperature bythe difference of 22 degrees.
